No one was injured because of the hydrochloric acid leak

Late on the night of Friday, August 22, Lubbock Fire Marshals Arrested 34-year-old Donovan Osby for first degree felony arson and for making false statements to a police officer. Osby suffered significant burns during the Tuesday, August 19, fire that occurred at a townhome in the 5000 block of 27th street and has now been charged with setting that fire.

The Lubbock Fire Marshal’s Office is asking for help from citizens in determining additional information about a fire that took place on Tuesday, August 19, in West Lubbock.

Thirty-four year-old Steven Salazar was found dead in the home. The Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined Salazar’s identity, but has not made an official ruling on the cause and manner of death.

A package originally thought to be suspicious was found at a local retirement home Tuesday afternoon.

The fire had spread to a tank containing around 100 gallons of a fuel and oil mixture, as well as surrounding grass and a nearby fence.

A 59-year-old man was found dead Thursday at the Budget Motel, located at 805 34th Street. A 43-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital.

Thursday evening, a fire broke out at a Lubbock ISD middle school.  The fire started around 5 o'clock in the auditorium of O.L. Slaton Middle School.  The fire was contained to the stage and everyone on campus was evacuated safely. KAMC 28 reports that one person suffered minor injuries...
