Lubbock Fire Rescue has announced their findings in the preliminary investigation of a house fire where a man was found dead.

The home in the 8600 block of Jordan Avenue caught fire just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Thirty-four year-old Steven Salazar was found dead in the home. The Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined Salazar’s identity, but has not made an official ruling on the cause and manner of death.

Lubbock Fire Rescue says that the preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was intentionally set. They say that the investigation is ongoing, and does not currently exclude an intentional act performed by Salazar prior to his death.

More information will be available when the Medical Examiner’s Office makes a final ruling on Salazar’s death.

The home was completely destroyed in the fire.
