III. RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

TYPE OF RECRUITMENT INITIATIVE

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY

1 Station Intern Program The stations had an intern from Texas Tech University who began his internship on September 11, 2013. His responsibilities were mainly focused on News/Talk 790, KFYO assisting in the production of the morning talk shows by running the board, answering the phones, setting up interviews and guest relations.
He also assisted in production of station promos, dubbing feature audio into the NexGen automation system and writing interview recaps for the station websites.
The intern also assisted in the setup of remote broadcasts by hanging banners, taking pictures and meeting/greeting listeners at live events.
He spent time with current programming staff learning about various aspects of radio: including how talkshows are structured, FCC rules and regulations, the rules for production and interaction between air talent to sales and to clients.
The intern had a well-rounded knowledge of the radio industry at the time of his completion of the internship.

Her responsibilities were mainly focused on News/Talk 790, KFYO assisting in the production of the morning talk shows by running the board, answering the phones, setting up interviews, taking photos of guests and guest relations.
She also assisted in production of station promos, dubbing feature audio into the NexGen automation system and writing interview recaps for the station websites.

3 Station Intern Program The Stations had an intern from Texas Tech University for Live Events at Townsquare Lubbock from June 10, 2013 until August 2, 2013. Her job assignments include typing up informative emails to send to coworkers about events, creating sales presentations, filling out budgeting spreadsheets, creating and maintaining relationships with local clients, seeking bids for event materials (stage, sound, porta-potties, tents, etc.), researching the Lubbock market, and attending and codirecting all events. Her supervisors included the General Manager, Director of Sales, and the Live Events Manager.
She excelled in Live Events and has since moved on to continue her career in Live Events and is still with Townsquare Media in El Paso as the Live Events Coordinator.
