On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Jennifer Simek from the Lubbock Arboretum talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about their upcoming garden tour.

The Lubbock Arboretum, in association with the City of Lubbock Water Service Department and Lubbock Master Gardeners, will be hosting the Water-Wise Garden Tour this weekend. There will be 7 homes featured on the tour, plus the arboretum itself.

Simek said that this time, the focus is on water conservation, and how you can have a beautiful yard even in the midst of a drought. She explained that each house will feature a different aspect of water conservation, and that there will also be experts on hand to explain how people can use those techniques in their own yards as well.

The Water Wise Garden Tour will take place this Saturday, September 21st from 9 AM to 2 PM. Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under get in free. Tickets are available at the Lubbock Arboretum, or at any of the homes featured on the tour.
