The City of Lubbock and other entities are holding an event to highlight landscape practices that are good for water conservation.

The City, with Lubbock Master Gardeners, and the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum, will present “Beauty in These Dry Times: A Water-Wise Garden Tour.”

The tour will be held on September 21st from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for adults, and can be purchased at any of the addresses to be featured on the tour. Children 12 and under attend for free.

The tour can begin at any of the addresses featured on the tour. They include:

  • 1902 32nd
  • 6202 77th
  • 6007 86th
  • 9303 Hyden
  • 9215 Homestead
  • 3704 94th

The self-paced tour is designed to showcase interesting and well-executed water-wise landscapes, plus give attendees practical information on how to effectively alter your landscape to look beautiful and reduce water usage.

Gardening and landscape experts will be on hand to discuss water-wise landscapes with attendees as well.

Some of the topics to be explored include water-wise plants, efficient irrigation, rainwater harvesting, benefits of mulching, landscape design, turfgrass options, and more.
