An almost 4-year long investigation of the City of Lubbock by the FBI is over. Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin states the investigation is closed and that no charges will be filed in the matter.  During the FBI raid at city hall in May of 2008, the FBI seized computers, hard drives and documents from the city.

Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin will have an opponent in the upcoming May city election. Glen Robertson (pictured with his wife Karen) will officially announce his candidacy for mayor Thursday morning at 11am at the Cactus Theater, located at 19th Street and Buddy Holly Avenue.

“Hopefully over the next several months if the council agrees to it, we can continue the project far as far west with the existing money.”

The event will include a presentation from Martin, focusing on the latest economic data and the status of City projects and issues.

The Lubbock City Council approved the final reading of the ordinance allowing groups to sell alcohol at events at the park.

“I think Rep. Perry has done a good job and deserves to be re-elected probably,” Martin said.

Martin said the city council can amend the budget if the amount allocated for bad weather is not enough

"We certainly don’t want water running off into the street and then freezing and becoming a traffic hazard," Martin said. "That’s what it’s designed to prevent."
