On the Friday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Brandon Darby, managing director of Breitbart Texas, spoke with Chad Hasty about the latest in Texas news.

Darby said that one of the main focuses of Breitbart Texas is politicians whose words don't match up with their actions. And one of those politicians seems to be Texas Attorney General candidate Dan Branch. Although Branch has repeatedly stated that he is staunchly pro-life, Darby explained that back in 2005, Branch attempted to add an amendment to a bill banning late-term abortions. Critics say the amendment vaguely stated that abortions should be allowed if the pregnancy would cause "severe damage to an organ," which would have given more authority to the abortion provider.

Darby added that when a reporter contacted Branch's office to try and ask questions about the amendment, the office put out a scathing press release attacking the reporter, which in turn caused a number of pro-life groups to start going after Branch's office.

"The bottom line is Dan Branch sought to add an amendment that would have expanded the medical authority of abortionists. And more eyes saw it simply because his campaign, and I don't actually know what they were trying to do with that, but simply because his campaign attacked in an undue manner."

Darby also pointed out that when left-leaning Texas Monthly reported on the story, they tried to pass it off as a "petty" issue. He said that this is starting to become a common tactic for Democrats in Texas: taking potentially major issues and trivializing them as "petty."
