7 Common Everyday Things the President Can’t Do
Have you ever wondered why Presidents seem so different than us everyday folk? Besides the fact that they are the Leader of the Free World, there are also common things that they are not allowed to do that we may take for granted.
As POTUS, you can no longer...
#1 Go out to eat with family
Yes, you can still go to a restaurant, but the Secret Service will have to scout the area and sweep it before you arrive. Also, be prepared to be flooded with press and fans at the door taking constant photos.
#2 Attend your children's sporting events
If you have kids around high school, it's often deemed not worth the trouble to set aside time in your day, put forth the resources to stake out the event for security risks, and have all eyes on you rather than the kids.
#3 Drive a car
One of the more common restrictions. It doesn't matter if you are the world's greatest NASCAR driver, you must be driven by highly-trained staffers wherever you go.
#4 Fly commercial airlines
If you are President, no flying Delta for you, unfortunately. You can only fly Air Force 1 if you ever take to the skies: one of the few absolutes in Presidential restrictions.
#5 Open windows
This one is sad but understandable for security reasons. As President, you can't just pop open a window in the White House or in the car when you want to take in the crisp morning air.
#6 Publish written work while in office
As President, you are not allowed to publish written work about your time in office. This is because Presidents are federal employees and whatever they say or write (as long as it's unclassified) is in the public domain.
#7 Ride in a convertible
