Texas Tech University has been named one of the greatest colleges to work for in the nation, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

The Chronicle, a news source specializing in higher education, conducted extensive surveys of administrators and faculty of a number of colleges and identified 92 universities in the nation that excelled in their selected criteria including careers, compensation, work environment and leadership.

Texas Tech was recognized as one of the nation’s Great Colleges to Work For award for outstanding in the criterion of teaching environment. Managing director of Texas Tech’s Human Resources, Jodie Billingsley credited leadership for the award and said it came from the top.

“We consider our employees our most valuable asset, and we’re fortunate to have visible and approachable leaders who engage with faculty and staff across campus,” Billingsley said. “Achieving the Chronicle’s Great Colleges to Work For designation is a direct reflection of our involved administration, faculty and staff.”

Texas Tech University President Duane Nellis credited the recognition to the leadership and respect the university’s employees demonstrate.

“We have respect for each other for whatever role faculty and staff play at the university,” Nellis said. “ We each contribute to this great national success.”
