Red Raider fans will have players to root for in the NFL.

The 2024 NFL Draft was held over the weekend in Detroit and two Red Raiders were selected during the draft. Six former Red Raiders signed in the hours after the draft as un-drafted free agents.

According to a press release from Texas Tech, two Red Raiders heard their name called on Saturday. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, defensive back, was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Taylor-Demerson was the 104th overall pick. In the 7th round, the Jackson Jaguars selected defensive end Myles Cole 236th overall.

It was the fourth time in five years that multiple Red Raider players had been selected in the NFL Draft.

Six other players were signed after the draft as un-drafted free agents.

Austin McNamara, was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals, Baylor Cupp was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs, Xavier White was signed by the Indianapolis Colts, Rayshad Williams signed by the Las Vegas Raiders, Cole Spence is headed to the Tennessee Titans, and Tyler Owens was signed by the Washington Commanders.

Here's an interesting fact. Before Saturday only two NFL teams had never selected a Red Raider in the NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers, now it's just the Panthers that have never selected a Red Raider. Maybe next year.
