A generous anonymous donor affiliated with the Lubbock Texas Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has donated over 50,000 pounds of potatoes to the South Plains Food Bank.
The Summer of Sharing (SOS) food drive from the South Plains Food Bank will run through July 2nd
SPFB provides food for families in need in a 25-county area of West Texas.
The Kids Cafe Fun Run takes place on Saturday, 8am at the Civic Center
The South Plains Food Bank helps one in five people across the South Plains. Items most needed by the SPFB include soups, beans, canned meats, cereals, pasta, rice, and peanut butter.
Country music star Brad Paisley will use his February16th concert to help raise food donations for the South Plains Food Bank here in Lubbock.
Their partnership for 2012 will kick off with a food drive, that will begin this Friday.
The U Can Share Food Drive may be over, but the SPFB's need for food and money continues.
The food drive runs from December 5-10 and the main collection point is the United Supermarket location at 82nd & Frankford
Lubbock County families that need assistance with basic school supplies are encouraged to contact their child’s school for a school supply voucher.
