Monday on Lubbock's First News, Kyle Rogers, South Plains Food Bank board member and co-chairman of the U Can Share Food Drive, gave details on how to help.

The donations made through the  food drive will be collected by the SPFB, which offers food to families in need. Rogers noted the rising need as more hardships are becoming prevalent among families: "We're starting to see more people at the food bank that we haven't seen before."

The food drive will take place from December 2-7 at United Supermarkets. Each day, the event will take place at a different United location. It will begin at the location on 82nd and Frankford. To make donations, shoppers at United can donate cans or money when they check out at the registers. The goal of this year's food drive is to raise 300,000 pounds of food and $125,000, which can be turned into 500,000 meals.

Ways to volunteer with the SPFB can be found on their website.
