The funding, originally appropriated in bonds for the North University Gateway Project in 2004, was later moved to the 34th Street project. Council also approved increasing the sales tax projection to create three new positions at City Hall.
The upcoming City of Lubbock budget, which will begin on October 1st, includes a three-percent across the board pay increase for City employees, coming out to around $3.8 million dollars.
The Council heard many pros and cons about LEDA, considered Lubbock Power and Light's budget, and, in fairly close votes, approved the upcoming budget and tax rate.
