Suspect Caught After Homicide in Lubbock This Morning [UPDATED]

A woman is dead and a man is in custody after a homicide this morning.
32-year-old Maria Perez was found dead in her apartment on 45th and Elgin at around 9:00 this morning. Lubbock Police say a maintenance man at the complex found her body after her children came and asked him for help. KAMC 28 reports he attempted CPR.
41-year-old Steve Ballesteros was arrested just before noon after driving by and taunting police. was arrested just before noon after driving by and taunting police. He crashed his vehicle at 50th and Canton during a short chase, and was arrested.
Perez’s cause of death has not been determined, nor the relationship between her and the suspect.
