The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred over the weekend.

Around 9:20 p.m. on Halloween, a shots fired call in the 8500 block of Ash Avenue was reported to Police. The caller told police his location and that he thought he may have been shot before the call was disconnected and communication was lost.

First responders searched the scene but were unable to discover the caller or the true location of the accident.

Shortly before midnight on Saturday, the Lubbock County Sheriff's office was notified of a vehicle fire on E. 19th Street about 1.5 miles east of Loop 289.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered there was an unidentified body inside the burning vehicle that was reportedly fully engulfed in flames.

While on the scene, police also noticed the vehicle was riddled with bullet holes that are believed to be related to the shots fired call from earlier in the night.

No further details have emerged at this time.
