Lubbock County Judge Tom Head recently made remarks which have sparked an outrage among local Democrats and on the internet for his remarks on why he supported tax increases.

The weird part of this story isn't that some Democrats are upset over taxes being increased, but of why Head wanted to raise taxes.

Head told the local Fox affiliate in Lubbock,

He's [Obama] going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN, and what is going to happen when that happens.

I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.

Now what's going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in U.N. troops. I don't want 'em in Lubbock County. OK. So I'm going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say 'you're not coming in here'.

And the sheriff, I've already asked him, I said 'you gonna back me' he said, 'yeah, I'll back you'. Well, I don't want a bunch of rookies back there. I want trained, equipped, seasoned veteran officers to back me.”

The reason Judge Head went along with a tax increase, which he promised he wouldn't along with when running in 2006 and 2010, was due to the impending invasion from troops under the United Nations flag if President Barack Obama is re-elected this fall and sign over the sovereignty of the United States to the U.N.

The Lubbock County Democrats were quick to offer up a response to the comments from the Judge saying on kcbd.com,

"Judge Head's remarks are pure paranoid fantasy straight out of the Eagle Forum or the John Birch Society. When Judge Head says, "take up arms and get rid of the guy," is he threatening the President of the United States?

Judge Head's remarks are beyond reason for someone who has sworn an oath of office.  The citizens of Lubbock County deserve better than a County Judge who fantasizes about Sheriff's deputies fighting the federal government in a modern-day civil war.

The Lubbock County Democratic Party condemns in the strongest possible terms the remarks which Judge Head made. Judge Head's remarks are completely inappropriate, and he ought to resign."

I agree with the local Democrats that this kind of nonsense from the Judge is nuttery that belongs with the John Birch Society or Eagle Forum, but we have a bigger issue at hand with these comments.

Judge Head wasn't grandstanding to divert attention from his failed promises to fight tax increases because any sane person would have said something different than, "The U.N. is coming! Arm the boys at the Sheriff's Office!"

I really do believe that Judge Head thinks we are heading to a shooting Civil War if President Obama is re-elected. This view isn't in the mainstream of modern conservatism and belongs on the websites of those as deranged as conspiracy nut Alex Jones or even the World Net Daily website.

I'm sure that Judge Head has issues with the President's birthplace, which is Hawaii and not Kenya, and would offer up help for Sheriff Joe Arpaio search for the birth records.

Should Judge Head resign from his post? With less than two years left on his term and most likely a challenge County Commissioner Patti Jones looming in 2014 it wouldn't be worth it.

The remarks are embarrassing for Lubbock Republicans because our elected Republican County Judge not only made some moon bat comment about potential U.N. invasions, but he betrayed their trust by going along with tax increases that he promised not to go along with.

The people who should be embarrassed about Tom Head's remarks are Lubbock Republicans.
