Lubbock Police Investigate Early Morning Homicide in Downtown Law Office

Lubbock Police are investigating a homicide after officers discovered a deceased man in a downtown law office early in the morning.

Lubbock Police officers responded to a call of an after-hours disturbance at Shackelford, Hawkins & Searcy, P.C. law offices, located at 1402 Texas Avenue, at around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. When officers arrived they found the body of one man, 61-year-old Steve Wallace, laying on the floor of the office. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police initially held one of the victim’s roommates, 27-year-old Jestin Wayne Hooker, for questioning and subsequently arrested him for the homicide hours later. Hooker, Wallace and one other man claim the offices as their residence.

Hooker has been booked into the Lubbock County jail on one count of homicide as of 6:30 a.m.
