More details have been released in regards to a Lubbock man shot in an officer involved shooting. Officers with the Lubbock Police Department were dispatched to the 9100 block of Akron Avenue at 2:48 a.m. on Thursday, November 9.

KAMC news reports that the initial that was received stated that a woman was being assaulted in the area. At the scene police discovered 21-year-old Noah Magallan who was armed with throwing stars and throwing knives. Magallan yelled at police to shoot him before throwing a knife at an officer who ordered him to drop the projectile weapons.

Magallan did refuse to comply with police officers request to drop the weapons and attempted to throw another projectile weapon at the responding officers. Police did have to fire multiple shots at Magallan when he attempted to throw another weapon at police. One of the responding officers did strike Magallan causing serious injuries, Magallan was later declared deceased on the scene.

Officers with the Lubbock Police Department were unable to find the female victim that had originally been called in or any signs of a female victim at the scene. It was later revealed that the call was made by the suspect and that the assault and victim were more than likely not real. The officer that shot Magellan has been placed on paid leave per Lubbock Police Department policy.
