The City of Lubbock Water Department has released a monthly water use report for the month of July.

During the month of July 1.2 trillion gallons were used at an average of 165 gallons per capita daily. This year marks the lowest usage in the last few years with a peak of 1.79 trillion gallons at 245 gallons per capita daily in the 2010-2011 fiscal year.

To date this year, the city has utilized 6.1 trillion gallons of water from the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority which is consistent with recent history. Water usage from Bailey County is at a low mark for the past five years at 2.5 trillion gallons. From Lake Alan Henry 1.9 trillion gallons of water have been taken, up from last year’s statistic of 1.5 trillion. The City of Lubbock did not take water from the lake during the 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 fiscal years.

Total water usage by the city during the 2013-2014 fiscal year is at 10.6 trillion gallons which is consistent with recent years barring a spike in the 2010-2011 fiscal year to 12 trillion gallons.

Currently the City of Lubbock is observing stage 2 drought restrictions. Stipulations of the restriction can be viewed at the city’s website.
