The City of Lubbock Water Department has released their monthly water usage report for the month of August.

Lubbock used 1.3 trillion gallons of water in August, which is the highest reported month since May, and has used nearly 12 trillion gallons during this fiscal year.

Although August’s water usage report is higher than recent months, it is lower than previous years with a peak in the 2010-2011 fiscal year at nearly 1.7 trillion gallons.

The water department reported 175 gallons were used per capita daily during August, down from a peak of 230 in the 2010-2011 fiscal year.
