Backyard Blaze in Central Lubbock

Emergency responders were called to a structure fire at 38th Street and Hartford Avenue at approximately 7:15 p.m. Monday, July 21.

Lubbock Police officers closed off parts of Hartford Avenue while firefighters extinguished the blaze. The fire was in control within the hour.

The fire was emanating from a shed in the backyard of a house located on 38th Street. No one was injured in the blaze which, according to one witnesses, started with an explosion.

The Lubbock Fire Marshall’s Office has determined the cause of the fire was electrical in nature and was created by an overloaded extension cord.
