The Office of Texas Senator John Cornyn has announced that several West Texas colleges and universities will receive millions in financial relief.

Texas Tech University, predicting to lose millions of dollars during the Coronavirus pandemic, will receive just over $25 million dollars from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund established by the CARES Act.

The Texas Tech Health Sciences Center will receive about $2.2 million. Lubbock Christian University is going to get $1.4 million, South Plains College will see $5.1 million, and Wayland Baptist University receives $2.5 million.

Financial institutions aren't the only ones to see relief, either. Hundreds of airports in Texas are expected to receive millions in financial relief from the FAA.

The Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport should get just over $9.5 million dollars. Smaller airports in the South Plains Area, like the Gaines County Airport, Levelland Municipal Airport, and others, will receive smaller amounts from $1000 up to $30,000.
