Toyota has announced the recall of almost 780,000 of their sport utility vehicles.

The company has issued a voluntary safety recall involving 2006 to early 2011 model year RAV4 and Lexus HS 250h vehicles sold in the United States.

Approximately 760,000 Toyota RAV4s and 18,000 Lexus HS 250h vehicles will be recalled for a potential safety issue.

According to a press release, Toyota has found that if the nuts on the rear suspension arm are not tightened following the proper procedure during a rear wheel alignment, excessive play may occur at the threaded portion of the arm, followed by the formation of rust. This could cause that protion of the arm to wear and separate.

Toyota is currently working on a fix for the situation, and will notify owners by mail that the repair can be done at a Toyota or Lexus dealer at no charge.
