Thursday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, The Car Pro Jerry Reynolds joined Dave and Matt to talk about his test drive of the week, national teen safety driving week, a car in California that runs on hydrogen, as well as other auto industry news.

This week, The Car Pro was test driving the 2021 Toyota Venza, an all new 5 passenger SUV from Toyota. Toyota previously got rid of a similar car in 2015, and it left a bit hole in their lineup, but this new model fills that spot again. Jerry started this discussion by saying that this vehicle is a bit unusual, in that it only comes in hybrid, an only comes in all wheel drive. The car gets 40 miles to the gallon in town, which Jerry was very impressed with. When talking about the hybrid side of it, Jerry explained that the transition from gas to electricity is seamless, and that the car never uses electricity for very long to drive, anyway. It is also a non-plug in hybrid, meaning that it charges itself when running, rather than needing to be plugged in like electric cars. Still talking about Hybrids, Jerry said,

I know a lot of people are still learning about hybrids, and I get that. But guys, if you need a 5 passenger SUV with a lot of head room, and cargo room, and you can get 40 miles to the gallon, why not?

The car also has a "spectacular" drive, has plenty of cargo room, and comes loaded with everything on it, such as a panoramic moonroof that, with the push of a button, can simulate a frost effect on the glass by turning it white, which Jerry thinks is pretty cool. The car has a window sticker price of $43,100.

The Car Pro also talked about some stories on his website carprousa.com. One such story is about a car in California that's been out for about 5 years. The car runs on hydrogen, which Jerry says is plentiful, very cheap, safe, and the cleanest fuel that you can use. Despite this, the US is a long way away from being able to use these cars regularly, since there are not refueling stations around the country. Another story on the website covers the fact that it is National Teen Safety Driving Week. Jerry says that the story could be a life saver if you have a teen driver.
