The Car Pro Test Drives the 2021 Mercedes AMG GLA 45

Thursday on Sunrise LBK with Dave King and Tom Collins, The Car Pro Jerry Reynolds joined Dave and Tom to talk about his test drive of the week, how people feel about their cars after 3 months, how to avoid taking too much damage to your car if you are going to hit a deer, as well as other auto industry news.

This week The Car Pro was test driving the 2021 Mercedes AMG GLA 45, a car that despite being small, is still very fast. Jerry started the discussion by saying that anytime you see AMG on a Mercedes, you know that it has a hand built engine, and is even signed by the technician who put it together. The GLA 45 car is small and light, and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds with its inline 4 cylinder engine that puts out 382 horses, which Jerry says makes it the most powerful 4 cylinder engine ever made, saying, "this thing, guys, is just a rocket...it's hard to describe how fast this thing is." The car has a beautiful interior, as you would expect of a Mercedes, has good back seat room, great headroom, decent cargo room, and comes with lots of great features. Reynolds did note, however, that this car probably will not be a big seller, and won't be for everyone, but if you are looking for a small SUV with the power to get up and go if you want it, this could be for you. It does have a steep price tag, however, at $62,150.

The Car Pro also talked about some stories on his website carprousa.com. One story covers J.D. Power appeal study results, which Jerry is not typically a fan of, but was interested in this one that talks about how emotionally attached to their cars people were after 3 months. Another story covers a AAA study where, despite child injuries from car accidents being at an all time high, only 1 in 5 parents have their children's car seat checked. Jerry says that this is critical, and that way more car seats are installed incorrectly rather than correctly, and that can lead to a tragic ending. Other stories talk about the end of the quarter sales, and the Barrett-Jackson results.
