Texas Tech is one of many schools nationwide that will honor our nation’s fallen military.

Texas Tech will host a Remembrance Day National Roll Call on Veterans Day. The event will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, November 11th at Memorial Circle.

More than 100 colleges and universities around the nation will read the names of the 6,200-plus casualties of Operation New Dawn, which also encompasses Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The names will be read by Texas Tech students, faculty, and staff over an eight-hour period on Friday. A national moment of silence will be held at 1 p.m., and the closing ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m.

National Roll Call Coordinator and Retired Lt. Col. Brett Morris, a Texas Tech alumnus said “We wanted to rally campus communities across the nation to send a powerful message to the troops currently serving that their peers have not forgotten their sacrifices, or those of the fallen.”
