Sometimes life is bigger than sports.

A week following the incident at Oklahoma State's homecoming parade on Oct. 24 that killed four and injured dozens, Texas Tech University prefaced its game against the Cowboys with a moment of silence, followed by the playing of the Oklahoma State Alma Mater.

In a show of solidarity, both universities held up the guns up hand signal, a hand signal adopted by both schools. The thousands in attendance did the same.

This was not a huge gesture. It did not cost money or a lot of time to execute. It was appropriate and thoughtful.

Good job, Tech.
