
Texas Tech Bans Tortilla Throwing at Football Games
The Big 12 wanted the Texas Tech tortilla toss to die, and now Texas Tech officials agree. Tortillas are banned at Jones AT&T Stadium.
Tech Officials Have Announced a Tortilla Throwing Ban
Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt announced on Monday that those attending Red Raider football games from here on out will no longer be allowed to throw tortillas during kickoff, or any other time during the game. Until now, Texas Tech officials had embraced the "15:1" slogan. A reference to a 15-1 vote among the Big 12 that banned objects from being thrown onto the field.

During the Kansas home game, Tech was penalized twice for 15 yards after fans threw tortillas on to the field. The Big 12 then upped the punishment to a $100k fine for each violation.
Fans are asked not to throw any objects at any time including tortillas before, during, or after the game. Texas Tech returns home Saturday as they host Oklahoma State at 3:00pm.
