Texas Tech basketball is officially elite. Texas Tech defeated Arkansas in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night 85-83, coming back from 16 points down to take down the Razorbacks in overtime. Their next challenger might just be the best they have faced all season.

Texas Tech will face one of the best teams in the SEC, Florida, who won their Sweet 16 game against Maryland 87-71.

Texas Tech is the 3 seed while Florida is 1 seed. For Texas Tech, this is their first time back to the Elite Eight since 2019. That is of course the same year they made their first Final Four and National Championship games. In the Elite Eight in 2019, Texas Tech defeated the #1 seed, Gonzaga, to advance to the Final Four. For the Florida Gators, this will be their first trip to the Elite Eight since 2017. Florida's last appearance in the Final Four was in 2014.
