The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) today announced that a TABC sales permit has been denied to a San Angelo bar.

Tom Green County Judge Mike Brown denied the permit to the Throttle Down Saloon during a hearing that took place last week.

The TABC had protested the application received in December of last year, because of the applicant's affiliation with the Bandidos. The Bandidos organization has been identified as an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang by the FBI because of previous organized criminal activity.

According to the TABC, Agent Shuddell Lindsey testified against the applicant, as did gang officers from the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green County Sheriff's office.  Sheriff Truman Richey, Chief of Police Tim Vasquez and the San Angelo City Council also provided letters supporting the protest investigation.

TABC Sgt. Steve Carnes said, "Agent Shuddell Lindsey put in long hours and did a thorough investigation, including gaining overwhelming community support for the protest of this applicant.  This showed great cooperation between TABC, local law enforcement and the City Council to help keep the San Angelo community safe."

The Throttle Down Saloon is located at 4742 N. Chadbourne in San Angelo.
