Beer still remains king in Texas for May of 2013.

According to the monthly report from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, 45,184,337 gallons of beer were sold for a total tax collection of $8.75 million. Texans have a total per capita beer consumption of 1.68 gallons per person for May.

Distilled spirits came in second in the Lone Star State, with 2,483,300 gallons sold in May, netting the state $5.96 million in tax collections.

More than 5.76 million gallons of ale were sold for a total tax collection of $1.14 million.

Lastly, Texans purchased an estimated 4.12 million gallons of wine in May, delivering tax collections of $1.04 million.
