Former Texas Tech football player and NFL veteran Michael Crabtree has been selected as 6th member of the Texas Tech Ring of Honor.

Crabtree will be joining Donny Anderson, EJ Holub, Dave Parks, Gabe Rivera and Zach Thomas.

While his induction will be recognized on Saturday, September 26th when TTU hosts in-state rival Texas, he won't be formally inducted into the Ring of Honor until the 2021 season.

Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said:

When you think of truly legendary wide receivers in college football history, you can’t help but think of Michael Crabtree [...] The Ring of Honor is reserved for the best of the best, and there is no question Michael Crabtree fits that criteria. We look forward to forever placing his name in Jones AT&T Stadium where he made so many memorable moments over his career.

Crabtree had 2 record-setting seasons from 2007-2008. The Red Raiders were a combined 20-6 during those 2 seasons. 2008 pushed Tech to as high as No. 2 in the national rankings.

Crabtree, in regards to his induction, said:

It is a truly an honor to be named a member of the Ring of Honor [...] In football, the ultimate goal is to have your name on the stadium. That was always my goal throughout my career. The Ring of Honor is an unbelievable special accomplishment. It’s a blessing for me, my kids, my family and all the teammates and coaches I played with.
