The Lady Raiders have had their second game canceled in as many days as the announcement comes that the Vanderbilt women's basketball program deals with COVID-19 issues. Yesterday, the Lady Raiders had their game against Missouri canceled after the Missouri Women's program announced positive tests.

The Red Raiders' Basketball team also lost a game this week when St. John's decided against traveling to Lubbock.

The Lady Raiders issued a statement announcing the news and the cancellation of Krista Gerlich's press conference, presumably because Gerlich is currently on the phone trying to get these games replaced on the schedule.

Due to COVID-19 issues in the Vanderbilt women’s basketball program, Wednesday’s Lady Raider basketball game against the Commodores in Nashville has been canceled. The Vanderbilt athletics department announced the decision on Tuesday.

As a result of the cancellation, today’s 11:30 a.m. media availability with head coach Krista Gerlich will be canceled as well.

It was bad enough for the Lady Raiders to lose one of these games against an SEC opponent, but to lose two will set the program back in a time of transition with a roster that has more potential than most Lady Raider teams of the past decade.

There's little doubt that Gerlich can find somebody to play somewhere but it'll be a stretch to schedule two opponents that are the caliber of Missouri and Vanderbilt. Minutes are minutes though at this point for Vivian Gray, Chrislyn Carr, and the crew who are trying to change the program moving forward.
