The new GT will be available for purchase in 2016, celebrating the 50thanniversary of the Original GT race cars placing 1, 2, and 3 at the 1966 24 hours of Le Mans race.

The next gen GT is a departure from the past versions, sporting a mid-engined Ecoboost V6 that British Top Gear and Ford have confirmed produces more than 600 horsepower. Gone is the manual transmission, which has been replaced by a flappy-paddle system. The new GT is slated by Ford to take on the Ferrari 458, which is now the 488, the new Acura NSX, and mid-range Mc Larens. Pricing has not been set. But if Ford follows what it did with the second-gen GT, expect the car to cost between $100,000-$200,000, making it a cheaper supercar than its European competitors.
