Thursday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, The Car Pro Jerry Reynolds joined Dave and Matt to talk about his test drive of the week and its new features, catalytic converter theft, the end of a quarter of auto sales, and other auto industry news.

This week The Car Pro was test driving the 2021 Ford F-150 Platinum, Ford's new 2nd to top of the line truck. Reynolds started the discussion by saying that, outwardly, the truck doesn't look all that different from the 2020 model, however, Ford says that 97% of the parts are completely different than in their 2020 version, and it can definitely be seen on the interior. The 2021 F150 Platinum has a 5 liter v8 engine, although Jerry said he would prefer a 3.5 eco boost with twin turbos, as well as a 10 speed automatic transition. Reynolds also said that the truck performs well and is whisper quiet inside.

The truck also comes with several neat features, such as a huge 12 inch infotainment screen right in the center of the dashboard, which Jerry says is very clear and fast, and suspects is in direct response to what Ram is doing. Another cool feature allows you to press a button that causes the gearshift to completely fold flat, and the center console to slide back, giving you a completely flat workspace to work with. Jerry said, "It's hard to describe without seeing it, but honestly its the slickest thing I think I've ever seen." The truck also has a power converter and even a measuring ruler on the tailgate, as well as a powered bed door. "They just thought of everything," Jerry said, going on to say that the truck is almost closer to a luxury car than it is a pickup truck. The truck has a window sticker price of $62,000.

The Car Pro also talked about some stories on his website carprousa.com, including a story on the increase in catalytic converter thefts lately, where Jerry tells a story of a friend of his who had theirs stolen from their truck in public. He also talks about what materials are inside a catalytic converter that make it so valuable to be sold on the market, and a way to have local police agencies etch things into yours to help prevent theft. Another story covered the end of the month and end of the quarter for the auto industry, and why it is a great time to get yourself a new vehicle, as used car values are through the roof.
