Just one day after Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow hit their crossover height, a very real issue brings them back to Earth. Allegations of sexual harassment against Supergirl producer Andrew Kreisberg have officially resulted in Warner Bros. firing the former showrunner.

Warner Bros. and overall producer Greg Berlanti’s production company had moved quickly to suspend Kreisberg after at least nineteen anonymous complaints of varied harassment over the last few years. Now, Kreisberg has officially been fired from his producing role on all four series, atop cancellation of an overall deal with Warner Bros. TV, and another unnamed series being developed with Berlanti. Said Warner Bros.:

After a thorough investigation, Warner Bros. Television Group has terminated Andrew Kreisberg’s employment, effective immediately. Greg Berlanti will assume additional responsibilities on both The Flash, where he will work closely with executive producer/co-showrunner Todd Helbing, and Supergirl, where he will work closely with executive producers/co-showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. We remain committed to providing a safe working environment for our employees and everyone involved in our productions.

The Hollywood Reporter also notes that Kreisberg had a habit of firing Flash writers year-to-year, as well as “trouble staffing the show and challenges hiring women.” Stars of the four series also issued supportive, yet nondescript social media messages in the days that followed allegations against Kreisberg. More recently, Berlanti and his head of television, Sarah Schechter, reacted to Kreisberg’s firing with a show of solidarity:

Warner Bros. Television Group recently concluded its investigation into the allegations against Andrew Kreisberg. We encouraged and supported this investigation, we believe and support the individuals who came forward, and we agree with the studio’s decision. Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of all our colleagues — co-workers, crew and staff alike.

None of the four series shut down production over the controversy, leaving it unclear if Kreisberg’s absence will have any immediate effect. Stay tuned for the latest in the meantime.
