After the Big 12 basketball schedule was released yesterday we were all patiently awaiting the drop of the Red Raiders basketball schedule and they did not disappoint. More about the release soon, the actual games are about what everyone expected after it was announced the NIT Tip-Off in Orlando was canceled.

The Red Raiders invite six teams to the United Spirit Arena starting on November 25th and will also play Houston in Fort Worth and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Frisco. The six teams heading to Lubbock include Northwestern State, Sam Houston State, Grambling, Abilene Christian, and Incarnate Word. The marquee home matchup will be St. Johns.

These eight games join the 18 Big 12 matchups and the SEC challenge game against LSU to make up the complete schedule for Chris Beard and his team heading into the season that's rapidly approaching. You can check out the full schedule here.

The impressive part of the Red Raiders schedule release video wasn't the schedule. Those games are normal non-conference affairs with no real surprises. Yes, both the Houston and St.John's games will create some buzz and even ACU has made the tournament in the past three seasons, but by far the best part of the release video was the video itself.

Watch the video and see how many movies and pop-culture references you catch. It never hurts to open a pop-culture montage with Michael Scott. One of the most recognizable characters of all-time. He starts the voice over before brief shots of Jason Bateman in Dodgeball and Ed Helms in The Hangover.

Michael Scott appears again saying basketball is like jazz. A smash cut takes us to Apollo 13 where Texas Tech has a problem with both Sam Houston State and Houston. Sandwiched around Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar. Not to mention a floating Raider Red in space to the tune of Shooting Stars by Bag Raiders.

Another cut takes us to DC Comics where Super Man played by Chris Beard in this case flies into the atmosphere while Christian Bale's Batman voice tells us it's not who we are underneath but what we do that defines us. The Gotham vibe takes us to New York as St. John's is announced.

Now into Marvel world as Grambling is announced via a Marvel Studios title card spoof with Avengers Endgame playing in the background.

The video takes a sharp turn here going back to the Matthew Broderick classic WarGames where the Red Raiders ask ACU if they want to play a game. Speaking of games, Teen Groot won't listen to Star-Lord in the next clip as we get the GameBoy announcement of A&M-Corpus Christi in Frisco.

Finally, a black screen with a flash of lightning with Led Zepplin's Immigrant Song wailing as Thor Ragnarok closes the show announcing Incarnate Word onto the schedule.

Michael Scott then tells everyone that's how it's done and I can't really argue with him.

Did I miss any references? The Minions, Fresh Prince, Old School and maybe the Laguna Beach or the Hills GIFs aside.
