City of Lubbock to Offer Additional Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines

Wednesday evening, the City of Lubbock Health Department announced the availability of additional Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses.  The doses, which are 500 first doses of two-dose Moderna vaccine, will be made available in two timeslots at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Exhibit Hall on Thursday, April 15 and Saturday, April 17.

Times the additional Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are being made available at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Exhibit Hall:
- Thursday, April 15            2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, April 17             10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

The City of Lubbock Health Department has set up two ways for someone to make an appointment to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The first is to go online to the special Select-A-Seat portal on the city's website: mylubbock.info/covid19vaccine The second way to book an appointment is to call the Public Health Department at (806) 775-2933.

City officials also note that there will be a limited number of walk-up appointments available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The City of Lubbock Health Department will hold additional COVID-19 vaccine clinics next week  at some point between April 19-24.

The health department is urging all adults in Lubbock to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Operations for the health department's special HUB site inside the Civic Center will be winding down at the end of the month. Health department officials note it will close on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

In other news concerning COVID-19 vaccines, on Wednesday evening, a CDC panel elected to keep a nationwide hold in place concerning the status of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The J&J COVID-19 vaccine had been pulled after six patients suffered rare blood clots after receiving the vaccine. ABC News reported the six cases all involved women between the ages of 18 to 48.
