A traffic stop in the Texas Panhandle Thursday afternoon resulted in the seizure of more than $180,000 worth of methamphetamine.

A Texas DPS trooper stopped a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe near Conway in Carson County on Thursday around 1:20 p.m.

The trooper discovered four bundles of methamphetamine in the spare tire, resulting in the seizure of more than five pounds worth of the illegal drug.

The driver of the Tahoe, 60-year-old Lorenzo Gutierrez Lopez of Mission Hills, California, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

The drugs were reportedly being transported from an unknown location in California to Atlanta, Georgia.

Four others have been arrested in traffic stops along I-40 for the possession of sizable amounts of illegal drugs over the past two months.
