A Texas Tech runner has received conference honors.

Red Raider senior Kennedy Kithuka has been named as the Big 12 Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

The honor comes after his performance at Texas Tech’s season opener last week, where Kithuka finished first overall by more than 40 seconds at the Texas Tech/New Mexico State Duel.

Kithuka, the 2012 Men’s NCAA Cross Country Champion, remains unbeaten during his Texas Tech career as he went undefeated through the 2012 season with seven wins in seven races.

“It’s a nice start to the season for Kennedy and just a wonderful honor for him,” said Tech Head Coach Jon Murray.

Kithuka is now a four-time winner of the Big 12 Runner of the Week award.

Tech will host its lone home meet of the 2013 season on September 14th at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Lubbock.
