Texas Tech’s track and field team will enter the Big 12 Championship with yet another top-10 ranking.

The Red Raider track and field team earned its sixth-straight top-10 national ranking, as Tech will officially enter the Big 12 Championship ranked sixth.

The ranking comes from the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, which was released on Tuesday, May 13th.

Tech will host the conference meet beginning on Friday, May 16th, which will continue through Sunday at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex.

Red Raider senior distance runner Kennedy Kithuka leads the conference in the 5,000-meter run with a school record and national leading time of 13:26.98, and teammate Evans Tuioek leads the league in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best of 8:51.62.

Kithuka is also ranked second in the Big 12 in the 10,000-meter run after breaking the school record at the Payton Jordan Invitational.

Overall, Tech enters the Big 12 Championship with conference-leading marks in four separate men’s events.
