A notable Texas Tech runner has broken another school record.

Senior Red Raider distance runner Kennedy Kithuka shattered the Tech school record in the 10,000-meter run Sunday night at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford.

Kithuka crossed the finish line in 27 minutes, 41.73 seconds.

He finished sixth overall, and second among collegians in the race. Kithuka became the first Red Raider to break the 28-minute barrier in the event.

This marks the second outdoor school record to be claimed by Kithuka this season, and he has now set a total of five Texas Tech track and field school records in his career.

Texas Tech will next participate in the Big 12 Championships, set for May 16th through the 18th at the Fuller Track and Field Complex in Lubbock.
