Texas Tech’s president will be moving back to Tuscaloosa.

Guy Bailey has been named as the new president of the University of Alabama, following a meeting of their board of trustees.

Bailey, who received two degrees from the University of Alabama, has served as president of Texas Tech since 2008.

In a press release last week, Interim UA President Judy Bonner discussed Bailey, saying that he “has done an excellent job at Texas Tech, increasing momentum and positioning the campus as a major engine for economic development.”

Bailey received a salary and benefits from Texas Tech of more than $422,600 last year, according to the Associated Press, but no details on his salary at UA have been released as of yet.

Bailey will begin at UA in September.
