Texas Tech has announced an interim dean for their College of Arts and Sciences.

Provost Bob Smith announced Tuesday that Jeffrey Williams will serve as the interim dean, replacing Lawrence Schovanec, who has been named as the interim president of the university.

Williams, also a professor of anthropology, serves as the associate dean of finance for the college.

Schovanec was named as the interim president of the university, replacing Guy Bailey, who took the position of president at the University of Alabama.

“As the largest college within the university and with the vast majority of the core curriculum taught by the Arts and Sciences faculty, we interact with almost every graduate of the university,” said Williams.

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest of Tech’s colleges, and offers 120 degree programs in 16 departments.
