Dr. Glen Ritchie of the Texas Tech Plant and Soil Sciences Department joined Lubbock's First News to discuss the department's recent projects.

"For a small department as we are, we have a big impact in the community," said Ritchie. "We're fortunate to have about 120 undergraduate students in our program right now."

Currently, the department is being remodeled adding several thousand feet of new space to its building.

At the Plant and Soil Sciences Department, students are encouraged to join the Agronomy Club as well, said Ritchie.

"We're always recruiting for people in the Agronomy Club," said Ritchie. Many of that club's members are students in Plant and Soil Sciences, but there are some that are interested in plants and agriculture.
