As chancellor emeritus, Kent Hance will no longer report to the Texas Tech Board of Regents, and will report directly to the next chancellor.
Eli Velasquez will be responsible for managing intellectual property and technology transfer for each university within the Texas Tech system.
The committee will help identify potential candidates, assist with initial screenings, and make recommendations to the full Board of Regents, who will make the final decision.
At a press conference following the Texas Tech Board of Regents’ executive session on Friday, Hance announced that he plans to retire at the end of the year, but will stay on until a replacement is found.
