Two more people will be named as West Texas Legal Legends this week.

Texas Tech Chancellor Kent Hance and Lubbock attorney James H. Milam will be inducted as West Texas Legal Legends at a reception hosted by Texas Tech Law Dean Darby Dickerson, the Beaumont Foundation, and Wayne and Dana Reaud.

The induction will take place at 4 p.m. Friday, May 2nd at the Texas Tech School of Law’s Lanier Auditorium.

The unveiling of their plaques and a reception will be held after the induction in the Tech Law Forum.

The West Texas Legal Legends scholarship program was established in 2004 by Tech Law graduate Wayne Reaud.

Wayne Reaud and his wife Dana established endowed scholarships to honor attorneys such as John F. “Buddy” Maner, W. Frank Newton, Travis D. Shelton, W. Royal Furgeson Jr., Forrest Bowers, and now Milam and Hance.

Each scholarship requires a minimum endowment of $250,000, and are awarded to law students based on academic promise and commitment to service. They are the most prestigious scholarships offered by Tech law.

The event is open to the public, and attendees are asked to RSVP to Laura Urquieta, director of alumni relations at 834-0286.
