The upcoming City of Lubbock budget, which will begin on October 1st, includes a three-percent across the board pay increase for City employees, coming out to around $3.8 million dollars.

The Council heard many pros and cons about LEDA, considered Lubbock Power and Light's budget, and, in fairly close votes, approved the upcoming budget and tax rate.
"I think that when Mr. Klein comes to council and is asking questions that are already in his back-up, that possibly he’s not prepared," Robertson said. "
Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson joined Lubbock's First News Friday morning to recap the first regular night meeting of the City Council. Robertson talked about LP&L, the city tax rate and more with Chad Hasty and Rex Andrew.
For a home valued at $100,000, the homeowner would pay around $18 more in property taxes.
The Council approved a contract with Four Sevens Exploration Drilling in March of this year. Since then, a new mayor and two new councilmembers have been elected.
