The Kansas City Chiefs traded up from the 27th pick in the NFL Draft to get Patrick Mahomes with the 10th overall pick.

To me, the Kansas City Chiefs was the best possible spot for Mahomes to land. The head coach has coached both Brett Favre and Donovan McNabb -- both similar to Patrick Mahomes in different ways.

The Chiefs' pick also allows Mahomes to be a backup for a season...if he doesn't win the job over the summer, that is.

The Chiefs were 13th in scoring last season, with the 19th ranked passing attack, only giving up 28 sacks in the 2016 season. The 12-4 Chiefs also had an above average defense, giving up only 19 points per game.

Congratulations to former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the incredible honor of bringing a top 10 pick in the NFL draft.

Here are some initial reactions, including from Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was on-hand to personally congratulate Mahomes:

It's not all positive though, but who listens to Stephen A. Smith?
