The entire city of Lubbock wasn't alone in rooting for the Red Raiders during their first road game of the 2017 season.

Former Texas Tech quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Davis Webb each chimed in during the Red Raiders' close win over the Houston Cougars on Saturday.

Mahomes gave some much-deserved props to the Texas Tech defense, who consistently shut down Houston's offensive attack. And Webb tweeted at Offensive Line Coach Brandon Jones with kudos for his work improving the Red Raiders' ground attack.

Texas Tech beat Houston, 27-24. The team is now 3-0 heading into their Sept. 30 showdown against Oklahoma State at the friendly confines of Jones AT&T Stadium.

Mahomes is currently playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Webb is with the New York Giants.
